| The future of water is the future of humankind. How water will run in our societies will determine the future of our environment, power relations, the balance between rich and poor, war and peace and the destinies of countries and continents. With up-to-date footage from 25 countries, this documentary presents an original and comprehensive narrative of the challenges that humankind will face in relation to its most precious resource. DVD 1 – The water age. In episode 1 we visit some the world’s biggest water engineering projects, including Egypt’s giant Mubarak Pumping Station, Russia’s new canal that will channel water 2,500 km from Siberian to central Asian and China’s plans to head off its looming water crisis by redrawing its water map. DVD 2 - The new uncertainty. In episode 2 we consider the pervasive uncertainty about water that now dogs our world. We hear daily about rising sea levels, droughts, floods and melting glaciers. The documentary visits the locations on the front line – Mali, China, India, Holland, Greenland, Venice and Bangladesh. DVD 3 - The waterlords. In episode 3 we visit areas of the world where there are current diplomatic or military conflicts over water resources, including southern Africa, Spain and the countries bordering the Nile.
